Excursion Details

Discover why Alaksa is hailed for its scenic beauty on this excursion, which lasts around two and a half hours and lets you see a rural, waterside expanse of the state known as The Last Frontier.

After meeting at the kayaking centre there’s around 30 minutes to sign a waiver, listen to a safety briefing and receive all your equipment. Once fitted up with your kit, board the two-person kayak and launch into the waters from a beach at Icy Strait Point. A motorised boat will accompany your trip to further increase safety.

You’ll have around 90 minutes to paddle through the waters of Port Frederick, a peaceful bay off Icy Strait in Alaska’s Alexander Archipelago, measuring around 30 kilometres in length. Surrounded by soaring, snow-capped mountains and expanses of dense, green forest, this area is rich in nature and wildlife, and is known as a fine location for birdwatching thanks to the wide variety of species that can be spotted here. Keep a lookout for birds and other creatures as you paddle, although please note that wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.

As the kayaking session comes to an end you’ll paddle back to shore and return your boat, before spending 20 minutes or so removing and returning your equipment and kit, concluding the excursion.
