“THE BATHS” ON VIRGIN GORDA

Swap your ship for a boat and first enjoy a 40-minute jaunt to Spanish Town on Virgin Gorda before hopping on an open, safari-style coach for a further ten-minute transfer to “The Baths National Park”. Arriving at the “Top of the Baths” a safety speech is given to all guests before setting off on the trail to the beach. Amid the natural beauty of this special place, you can swim, or simply explore the surroundings.

One of the British Virgin Islands’ most popular sights, “The Baths National Park” is known for its unusual geological formation consisting of huge, sea-sculpted granite boulders that line the beach and form tidal pools, tunnels, caves, arches, and scenic grottoes. The trail to the first beach, Devil’s Bay, takes approximately 20 minutes to reach. You’ll have 30 minutes to relax on the beach and swim, weather permitting. Your guide will then lead you through the caves for a 40-minute exploration of the grottos and natural pools, followed by another 30 minutes to unwind at Baths Beach. The experience concludes with a scenic 15-minute uphill walk along a natural path back to the bus park. After some time to shop for a souvenir, you will re-join the coach. As a final touch, a complimentary drink will be served as you re-board the bus. Guests must be at least 4 years old to participate.

The open-air safari coach will not have A/C or a PA system. You are recommended to be in good physical condition, wear comfortable walking shoes (uneven ground) and take swimwear, high-factor sunscreen, a towel, and a hat. Guests can purchase food and drinks at The Baths beach, however, it is cash only. This tour is not available for guests in wheelchairs, baby strollers. Guests will be required to walk through water at The Baths, therefore, it is recommended to dress appropriately. There are no changing facilities available at the beach. Please wear swimwear under coverup. The trail to the beach from the entrance is approximately 0.7 km, it is inclined and natural with uneven, sandy surface, involving stepping over stones.

The trail through the caves involves holding onto rope rails and wooden stairs, please limit bags to one small item that can be carried for ease on your back. Note that exploring the beaches and caves involves walking on gravelly, rocky inclined paths, bending under rock overhangs, stepping into sea water which may make the rocks slick, and climbing down wooden staircases. The trails can become crowded, which may result in a longer exploration time for the grottos and natural pools. In the event of a red flag, swimming is not permitted

TORTOLA HIGHLIGHTS

Starting in Road Town, the capital of the British Virgin Islands, a tour of Tortola awaits you from the comfort of an open-air coach or minibus.

Travelling up to Fort Hill along Ridge Road, you will pass through the districts of Long Trench and Fahie Hill as you head for your destination: Stops will be made for photo taking as you drive along the Ridge Road, after which the tour continues on to Cane Garden Bay. A stop will be made here for you to enjoy the beach for approximately 1.5 hours. Enjoy a swim in the water, or relax on your beach chair. Your return journey to the port will take you along Tortola’s northern shore over Zion Hill and down Sir Francis Drake Highway back to Road Town.

THE OPEN TRUCK SAFARI ISLAND TOUR & BEACH

Board your vehicle, and have a chance to discover Tortola. Enjoy vistas of the neighbouring islands and of Tortola itself. Since parts of the route aren’t typically accessible by large coach buses, be sure to bring your camera and make ample use of the photo stops made along the way. As the tour takes you through Road Town, the capital of the British Virgin Islands, and along a trail that will reveal the island’s flora and fauna, you can get a real feel for these surroundings. To allow some time to swim, sunbathe and enjoy a refreshing drink, a further stop will be made at a beach for approximately 1 hour before you return to the ship. Guests must be at least 5 years old to participate.

Please note: As the tour involves travelling over rough terrain, it is not available for pregnant women and children under 5 years of age. MINI VIRGIN ISLANDS’ CRUISE

This tour is a great way to extend your cruise experience away from the big ship by boarding a boat at the pier for a trip around the Virgin Islands’ archipelago. Enjoy views of Tortola’s southern coast as well as Salt, Peter and Norman islands as the boat cruises through the Caribbean Sea. The route will also take you near St. John’s Island, 60% of which is covered by the Virgin Islands National Park, and several uninhabited islands.

Guests will then board a waiting open sided safari or a closed mini tour bus at the marina and tour along the north shore ascending to the Ridge Road, which twists its way along the ridge of the island offering views of Tortola and of the surrounding islands. The return drive to the ship brings this tour to a close.

BEACH BREAK

After boarding your tour bus at the port, your beach excursion begins with a drive from Road Town on to one of the of Tortola’s beaches. Enjoy approximately 3 hours of time spent at the beach. A beach chair is provided free of charge, while the beach bar offers additional soft drinks, water and light snacks for purchase.

Please note: Outer clothes must be worn over swimwear. Nudity on beaches or topless for ladies is prohibited by BVI law. Complimentary beach chairs are provided. An alternative beach location may be used due to weather conditions

ISLAND SECRETS

The manifold charms of Tortola will reveal themselves on this island tour as you travel in a minibus or open sided safari bus, which will first take you from Road Town and ascend up the Ridge Road at Belle Vue. To capture the views of the sea and adjacent islands, photo stops will be made on your way along the Ridge Road.

You can enjoy a complimentary drink, at a hilltop restaurant while admiring the views. The bus will then make its way down to the northern shore and take you through several small fishing villages. A stop is made at Pusser’s Landing for some souvenir shopping before travelling along the south shoreline back to your ship

NORMAN ISLAND SNORKEL

Said to have been the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic Treasure Island novel, Norman Island sits at the southern tip of the BVI archipelago and is your destination on this snorkelling adventure.

Your excursion begins with a 20-minute boat ride across Sir Francis Drake Channel to reach one of the BVI’s snorkelling sites. A snorkelling instructor will take you to explore the surroundings of colourful coral formations, exotic fish and abundant marine life. Moving on to a beach location, where you can also purchase refreshments, will give you a second chance to go snorkelling on this tour before you head back to the port and your ship. Guests must be at least 4 years old to participate.

All snorkelling gear as well as instruction for novices are provided. The snorkel location may change to suit the prevailing weather conditions. All participating guests will be required to sign a waiver which may only be available in English. Sightings of marine wildlife are common but cannot be not guaranteed.

FULL DAY AT JOST VAN DYKE

Step aboard your catamaran at the pier and set off on a journey through the Caribbean waters. As you cruise past Peter Island, Norman Island, and St. John, take in the views of the islands around you—a perfect start to your day of relaxation and exploration. After approximately 40 minutes of cruising, the catamaran arrives at Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke, where a short 10-minute taxi transfer will bring you to White Bay. Spend around 4 hours enjoying the beach at your leisure: lounge on a beach chair, take a swim, and enjoy a Caribbean-style buffet lunch. Every moment is yours to relax and soak up the tropical ambiance. When your beach day winds down, hop back on the taxi for a 10-minute ride to Great Harbour, then reboard the catamaran for the 40-minute cruise back to the pier.
