See the famous sea lions along with San Diego landmarks and historical sites with a San Diego harbour cruise. From the pier, a short walk brings you to your vessel for a narrated sightseeing cruise through San Diego Harbor. The narrated 2-hour cruise shows you the San Diego skyline, the Star of India and the iconic ships of the Maritime Museum, Harbor Island, Shelter Island and North Island Naval Air Station. U.S.S. Midway aircraft carrier, the U.S. Navy surface fleet, the Coronado waterfront, the Coronado Navy SEAL Base, and Coronado Bay Bridge.

Your professional guide will share entertaining facts and history that helped to shape the city’s distinctive waterfront. The fleet of luxury ships features three levels with comfortable indoor and outdoor seating, 360-degree views, and an on-board snack bar offering snacks, sodas, beer and wine for purchase. At the conclusion of the voyage, a short walk returns you to the ship, or you may want to linger on the waterfront an explore the area.

From the pier, begin with a scenic drive along the waterfront and through the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego, home to a beautiful array of restored Victorian-era buildings, countless restaurants, cafes, shops, boutiques, and art galleries. Next, continue to Balboa Park to see its famous gardens, museums, and theatres. From the park, take the highway en route to upscale and picturesque La Jolla.

In the village of La Jolla, you will find myriads of exclusive shops and eateries. Take a few minutes here to enjoy the seafront or browse the village for local treasures. At the appointed time, meet your guide for the return to the ship

Board an Old Town trolley, a mode of transportation as charming as San Diego. Your driver, who is also your guide, will offer compelling anecdotes, humorous stories, and historical information as you pass Seaport Village, the Convention Center, the historic Gaslamp Quarter, and Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres. Once you arrive at Coronado Bay Bridge, you will love the 360° views of the city. On Coronado Island, you will learn the history of famed Hotel del Coronado before heading to Balboa Park, the largest urban cultural park in the US and home to the world-famous San Diego Zoo. Head to downtown and experience seven distinct neighborhoods, including Little Italy, as you make your way to Old Town State Historic Park, marking the beginnings of this city with a Spanish discovery in 1542. In Old Town, drive by one of the oldest cemeteries and an authentic haunted house as well as the Old Town Market, home to over 40 unique shops, as we take a quick 15-minute ride back to the pier.

City Tour Trolleys go by our stops approximately every 20 minutes. You will be given a map, schedule, and sticker for re-boarding should you decide to disembark the trolley tour for some personal exploration. When booking this tour through MSC, guests will enjoy the convenience of guaranteed seating and direct pick-up from the cruise terminal and return service to the nearest possible location for re-boarding their ship—offering true pier-to-pier service.

This excursion is operated as a private experience exclusively for MSC guests while they remain on their designated trolley. However, guests may choose to leave their private trolley to utilize the hop-on, hop-off feature. If they do so, they will join the public tour and will be subject to its schedule, availability, and first-come, first-served seating

The San Diego Zoo covers 100 acres and is home to over 4,000 rare and endangered animals representing more than 800 species and subspecies as well as a stunning botanical collection with more than 700,000 exotic plants. You will board your coach at your pier and set out on a brief drive to 1,200-acre Balboa Park, the nation’s largest urban cultural park and home to the San Diego Zoo.

You can choose to ride the guided double-decker bus tour past major highlights, take the Skyfari aerial tram, or you can always stroll through the verdant grounds, observing the animals at your leisure. Learn about the animals that lived in this area in prehistoric times, then meet their living counterparts at The Harry and Grace Steele Elephant Odyssey. The new multi-species habitat features elephants, California condors, jaguars and more. At Wegeforth Bowl and Hunte Amphitheatre, you can watch animals such as sea lions and wolves in their natural habitats, or you can head to the children’s zoo to ensure that everyone gets in on the fun. You won’t want to miss the polar bears, the okapis, or the bonobos, all in realistic habitats.

At the end of your visit, meet your coach for your return to the ship.

At Coronado’s Ferry Landing, pause for a 15-minute photo stop to capture views of the city skyline.

You’ll also pass by the lit Hotel Del Coronado before making your way back through Little Italy and past landmarks like the Historic County Administration Building, the USS Midway, and the Maritime Museum — all shining against the bayfront backdrop.
