Upon arrival, you’ll find the King Penguin colony nestled between a pristine white sand beach and a picturesque lagoon, perfect for photography and wildlife observation.

The local community has thoughtfully placed a ring of white rocks to keep visitors at a respectful distance from the penguins, with the barrier being adjusted as the colony expands. Take a leisurely stroll along the beach to witness the mingling of all three penguin species and keep an eye out for other local birdlife such as the Magellanic Snipe, Dark-faced Ground Tyrants, Falkland Pipits, and Upland Geese. EXCLUSIVE AND ENRICHING: SEAL BAY SECLUDED WILDLIFE ENCOUNTER

Embark on an exclusive adventure to Seal Bay, one of the Falkland Islands’ most secluded wildlife experiences with narration in English. Starting in the charming frontier town of Port Stanley, you will meet your local driver at the tender drop-off point and begin your journey in a 4×4 vehicle towards Port Louis Farm. The first part of the trip is a one-hour drive on the road, followed by an exhilarating 12-mile off-road adventure that takes approximately an hour and a half.

This unique journey is not to be missed! Accompanied by members of the Gilding family, who have owned Port Louis for 22 years, you will be part of an exclusive group, limited to just 32 visitors per day and available only five months of the year. This tour is one of the most coveted experiences in the Falklands. Your first stop is the Rockhopper penguin site, where you might also spot the elusive Macaroni penguins.

Spend about an hour here, capturing photographs and marvelling at these fascinating birds. Restroom facilities are available within walking distance. A group photograph with your drivers will be taken, providing a wonderful keepsake of your adventure. Next, you will drive 20 minutes to Swan Pond, where you will have the unique experience of driving through this expansive body of water, offering fantastic photo opportunities. From there, you will be taken to a stunning white sandy beach where tables are set up for your lunch.

On the beach, you can see Gentoo and Magellanic penguins, occasional King penguins, and Sea Lions, along with various native birds such as Oyster Catchers, Grebes, Logger Ducks, Grey Ducks, Kelp Geese, and Upland Geese. Enjoy your meal, including homemade soup, hot tea, and coffee, while soaking in the private beach views of North Falklands. The final stop is at the Gentoo penguin colony, where you may also spot one or two King penguins if you’re lucky. This is a perfect last photo opportunity, rounding off your wildlife-packed day beautifully before heading back to Port Stanley. Upon returning to the capital, if time permits, your driver will offer a brief tour of the town, highlighting key points of interest before dropping you back at the jetty to catch your tender. BLUFF COVE LAGOON EXPERIENCE

Don’t miss this approximately three-hour exciting and exclusive tour. You will discover breeding King and Gentoo penguins and abundant bird species of the Falklands during this award-winning scenic excursion to Bluff Cove Lagoon, a private wildlife haven owned by Kavin and Hattie Kilmartin.

After tendering ashore, you will be met by Kevin and your English-speaking driver/guide to board a minibus for a 30-minute journey through Stanley and across the rolling hills to Bluff Cove Lagoon. Upon arrival you will be met by the knowledgeable and friendly Rangers and you will enjoy the next two hours at the beach at your leisure. You can take a stroll around the penguin colonies which features a scenic backdrop of a large lagoon and a white, sandy beach that is occasionally patrolled by sea lions from the nearby island. This beautiful pristine reserve is home to 1.000 breeding pairs of Gentoo penguins which protect the growing colony of King Penguins and their chicks.

Magellanic penguins which burrow on the nearby island can be found on the beach as well as bird species that frequent or nest in the area including Skuas, Upland geese, Ruddy-headed geese and Magellanic oyster-catchers to name but a few. The girls in the legendary Sea Cabbage Café by the beach will serve you a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate with a delicious home-baked treats including scones with Diddle-dee jam and fresh cream – with gluten-free options always available. You will be warmed by the peat stove whilst enjoying splendid vistas of the waves crashing on the white-sand beach with penguins and dolphins porpoising in. And if you are looking for a souvenir, you can find the perfect one at The Wild & Woolly gift shop by the beach, selling a fabulous selection of unique Bluff Cove souvenirs and gifts, including Bluff Cove tweed designed by Hattie and made with Bluff Cove wool. Discuss spinning, felting, and weaving with the farm wool.

The adjacent Bus Stop Museum, also by the beach, depicts life in the Falklands and tells the story of Bluff Cove. You can find out about penguins and pioneers, the nearby 1863 “Sugar Wreck”, the 1982 war with Argentina and the fabulous Lagoon wildlife. After an unforgettable visit, board your minibus for the return journey to Stanley.

As you near your destination, Kelp Point awaits – a secluded haven teeming with wildlife, including a growing colony of elephant seals. You’ll have around 45 minutes to observe these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat, while wardens ensure a respectful distance to protect both participants and animals. Remember to stay at least 10 metres away from the seals for their safety! Once your time with the seals concludes, a short journey will take you to a recently established Gentoo rookery.

Here, you can enjoy a delightful packed lunch by the pristine beach. Savor the flavours of your chosen baguette alongside a cookie, complemented by refreshing juice, tea, or coffee as you soak in the stunning coastal views. After lunch, take your time to explore the sandy shores and interact with the charming Gentoo penguins. This journey through the flatlands offers glimpses of some of the Falklands’ most elusive waterfowl, including the elegant Black-necked Swan and other charming species such as the Chiloe Wigeon, Silver Teal, Speckled Teal, and Silvery Grebe. Upon reaching the breathtaking Berthas Beach, you’ll find yourself in the midst of an impressive colony of 800 Gentoo penguins, a sight that will surely delight nature lovers. Berthas Beach is not only a haven for wildlife but also a botanical paradise, with over 80 different flowering plants recorded, five of which are endemic to the Falkland Islands.

EXPLORING FITZROY: SHEEP, SCONES, AND SCENIC LANDSCAPES

This journey begins from Stanley and takes approximately 45 minutes, with an English-speaking driver also acting as your guide sharing the rich history of the Falklands, from the inception of sheep farming to the establishment of the Falkland Landholdings Corporation, the current owner of Fitzroy. Upon arrival, yous will step into the shearing shed, where a captivating dog handling demonstration introduces them to the world of sheep. A detailed explanation of the wool production process follows, alongside a demonstration of shearing two or three sheep, showcasing the journey from farm to market. You can also explore an exhibition of farm vehicles that illustrate the evolution from traditional horses to modern quads and 4x4s, with a chance to feel the wool.

Next, make your way to the Settlement Hall, enjoying a traditional “smoko” with homemade cakes and pastries crafted by a local award-winning chef. Here, farm manager Gilberto and his partner Suzi engage in discussions about life on the farm and answer questions about rural practices. The hall also features displays detailing Fitzroy’s significant role during the 1982 conflict, along with opportunities to purchase locally crafted souvenirs. Following refreshments, the outdoor exploration continues at the vegetable polytunnels and gardens.

You can interact with and feed sheep and miniature horses while learning about holistic grazing techniques and the farm’s sustainable practices. A leisurely stroll leads you past the old cow shed to the hen coop, before reaching the Farm Manager’s House, where you can admire the flower garden and view horse gear and tools.
