Situated between the Mapocho River and San Cristobal Hill, Barrio Bellavista in the Providencia district is one of Santiago’s liveliest and most bohemian neighborhoods. Enjoy exploring it independently, taking the opportunity to stroll through boutiques, check out avant-garde galleries, and savor fine international cuisine served in the numerous restaurants and bars in the area (at your own expense). Other parts of the city, such as downtown, are also easily accessible, so you will have no trouble creating your own interesting itinerary or simply wandering and enjoying the serendipitous discoveries around every corner.

BEAGLE CHANNEL CRUISE and TIERRA DEL FUEGO NATIONAL PARK

Take a break from the ship to join a panoramic tour that begins with a narrated catamaran cruise along the Beagle Channel, a strait named after the HMS Beagle’s first voyage (1826–30).

Excursion Details

The catamaran offers both enclosed and open deck spaces, allowing you to choose the best spot for viewing. The route includes photo-worthy stops such as Bird Island, home to a large group of cormorants, and Sea Lion Island, inhabited by South American sea lions. You’ll also pass by the Les Éclaireurs Lighthouse, locally known as the “End of the World” lighthouse, though it’s not the same one featured in Jules Verne’s novel. Upon reaching Lapataia Bay, you’ll disembark and board a bus for a tour through the lush Tierra del Fuego National Park, making stops at two exclusive scenic viewpoints: Lake Roca and Ensenada Bay. The tour concludes with your return to the ship.

END-OF-THE-WORLD TRAIN and ENSENADA BAY

Earn bragging rights by traveling on the southernmost railway in the world through Tierra del Fuego National Park.

Excursion Details

After a short bus transfer, you’ll reach the station in the Pipo Valley to board the historic train, pulled by a replica early 20th-century locomotive. Enjoy stunning views of the park during the 1-hour journey. At the end of the train ride, a bus will take you to Ensenada Bay on the park’s coast. You’ll have some time at this picturesque spot before the bus ride concludes the tour.

TIERRA DEL FUEGO NATIONAL PARK

Embark on a half-day journey through the breathtaking landscapes of Tierra del Fuego National Park, covering about 61,000 hectares (150,000 acres) on a nature-focused bus tour.

Excursion Details

Begin with a bus ride west of Ushuaia, passing through the Pipo Valley to reach the park, which extends from the Beagle Channel in the south to Lake Fagnano in the north.

The park features lakes, rivers, abundant vegetation, and peat bogs, so keep your camera ready for unique photo opportunities. You’ll also pass through forested areas previously affected by fire, where light-colored trunks starkly contrast with the lush environment. Planned photo stops include the Panoramic Point, Lake Roca, and Lapataia Bay. The return trip offers more stunning views to enjoy.

TIERRA DEL FUEGO and WILDLIFE BY BOAT

Enjoy the incredible landscape and marine life of Tierra del Fuego from a seaside perspective as you sail through the Beagle Channel on a modern catamaran.

Excursion Details

First, you will board a boat and sail through Lapataia Bay to reach the Beagle Channel and the numerous islands that dot its course. The first wildlife spot you’ll pass is Isla de los Pájaros (Bird Island), which provides habitat for a large colony of imperial cormorants. Next, expect to see sea lions on Isla de los Lobos before proceeding to admire the views of the Les Éclaireures lighthouse in the archipelago of the same name. Lastly, you will head to Hammer Island, where the playful antics of a large group of Magellanic penguins will surely make you smile. The return trip to Ushuaia concludes your tour.

BEAGLE CHANNEL NAVIGATION

Named after the first voyage of HMS Beagle in the 19th century and also visited by Charles Darwin during the ship’s second trip, the narrow Beagle Channel presents itself for inspection on this appealing boat tour.

After boarding a boat at the pier, you willfirst cruise out of Ushuaia’s harbour en route to the Beagle Channel to a backdrop of wonderful mountain views. While you cruise along the strait, you willpass Isla de los Pájaros (Bird Island), home to a large gulp of imperial cormorants, as well as Isla de los Lobos, where you willfind a colony of sea lions. The equally scenic return cruise wraps the tour up.

OFF-ROAD ADVENTURE TO LAKES ESCONDIDO and FAGNANO

From Paso Garibaldi to silent canoeing on Escondido Lake — a 4×4 journey along the lake route that combines epic landscapes, off-road adventure, and glacial echoes.

Excursion Details

Departing from the ship towards the lakes via Route 3, which crosses part of the Fuegian Cordillera, we access Paso Garibaldi, a panoramic point where we can see our objectives, Escondido and Fagnano lakes. We begin the descent and divert from the route onto old lumberjack trails. 4×4 trucks allow us to reach places otherwise inaccessible: forests, mud, stones, etc. Lake Fagnano surprises us with its size and incredible landscape. The adventure continues with the lively crossing of Lake Fagnano to reach an internal route leading us to Lake Escondido, smaller in size but surrounded by an incomparable natural setting.

After a brief introductory talk by our boat guides, we prepare the canoes and begin paddling. The water view surprises us. After 45 minutes of canoeing, we return to the point where the trucks were left to start the return to Refugio Nunatak in the Tierra Mayor valley, where, while they prepare lunch, we have time to take a walk around. After lunch, we return to Ushuaia.

As the tour involves travelling over rough, uneven terrain, it is considered to be unsuitable for guests withneck/back/heart problems and for pregnant women. Guests are recommended to wear casual clothing and comfortable hiking shoes. FLAVOURS and WINE: USHUAIA GOURMET TOUR

Discover the flavours of Argentina’s Tierra del Fuego on a 3-hour gourmet outing that is dedicating to showcasing the best of local fare, from food to wine. First up, you’ll make your way to a BBQ treat at the Ushuaia Smokehouse, then continue on to try tasty fine dining morsels at the Küar Resto & Bar before finishing off on a viticultural note at the Quelhué Wine Shop. Each of the tasting sessions will include local products and well-known Argentinian wines – leaving you with culinary memories you’ll want to cherish. Your return to the ship then brings the outing to a close.

SIGHTSEEING TOUR and DINNER AT LAS COTORRAS

Prepare to enjoy an afternoon away from the ship on a tour that first allows you to delight in the views of the incredible landscape of Tierra del Fuego and then savor a delicious dinner at a mountain restaurant.

Excursion Details

After boarding your bus, you will follow a route passing through the main landmarks of Ushuaia, passing stunning landscapes and historic buildings of typical Fuegian architecture. You will also cross part of the Andes mountain range on the way to the Carbajal Valley and then to the mountain restaurant Las Cotorras. Sit back and relax in a pleasantly rustic setting to savor a Patagonian lamb barbecue raised locally. The scenic drive back to your ship concludes the tour.

Important Information:

This tour takes place in the evening and can be combined with some of the other morning tours. This tour is available on the first day only. A bottle of red wine every 4 people will be served while 1 bottle of water, or 1 soft drink are self-service

DINNER CRUISE ON THE BEAGLE CHANNEL

This evening outing will see you leave the ship for a catamaran cruise along the Beagle Channel, the same as travelled by Darwin on the second voyage of the name-giving 19th-century HMS Beagle, while enjoying dinner. Apart from a selection of delectable food, you’ll also be able to savour glorious views of Ushuaia’s harbour, its townscape and skyline as well as jagged mountaintops in the distance as a particularly beguiling backdrop.

The leisurely cruise comes to a close with your return to dry land and then your ship.
