SHIPWIDE ARTWORK ABOARD MSC WORLD ASIA, SETTING SAIL FROM DECEMBER 2026

MSC Cruises today revealed new details about the shipwide artwork that will be featured on MSC World Asia, the line’s highly anticipated new flagship set to commence sailings in the Mediterranean from 4 December 2026.

The new state-of-the-art flagship is set to become the latest World Class ship to join the cruise line’s fleet, offering seven-night sailings to some of the Mediterranean’s most sought-after destinations including Barcelona, Marseille, Messina, Civitavecchia for Rome, Naples and Valletta.

Inviting guests to experience the Art of Cruising, MSC World Asia will include an emphasis on artworks throughout the ship, carefully curated to complement the ship’s subtle design elements that will reflect Asia’s rich culture, art and landscapes.

From an impressive large-scale art installation to striking sculptures, guests can look forward to an exciting range of new artworks while aboard, created exclusively for the ship.

Highlights of MSC World Asia’s new artworks on board include:

Dragon Sculpture: As previously announced, a striking stainless-steel dragon suspended from the ceiling 10 metres above the World Promenade will captivate guests. The 12-metre-long and nine-metre-wide sculpture adorned with nearly 700 mirrors and 3,000 LED lights will also illuminate in the evening on board MSC World Asia.
Indoor Pool – Large scale art installation: Guests will be welcomed to the indoor pool by an impressive art installation in the shape of a water droplet, widening towards the base to evoke a sense of lightness and fluidity. Designed by artist Elisabetta Milan, the installation measures 150 cm in width and 245 cm in height, making it a striking centrepiece of the space.
The World Promenade – Japanese Carps: The World Promenade will feature large-scale koi fish sculptures by David Harber, a UK-based artist renowned for over 30 years for his sculptures, sundials, and water features that blend artistic vision with precise engineering. Rich in cultural symbolism, the koi represent perseverance, strength, and transformation – qualities that align with the ship’s spirit of travel and exploration. Their flowing, organic forms echo the movement of the sea, connecting guests to both the surrounding waters and the rich traditions of the Asian region.
Artworks in the corridors: Each deck will feature artworks in the corridors inspired by ship’s deck names, which are titled after iconic cities in Asia, and will pay homage to the beauty, culture, and diversity of Asia.
Artwork in the cabins: The cabin artworks are designed to seamlessly integrate with the onboard experience, bringing guests into an immersive Asian-themed environment. The artworks celebrate the beauty of Asian landscapes, colours, and natural motifs, complementing the interior design and enhancing the overall cabin atmosphere.
Artworks by Hoan Phan: Vietnamese artist Hoan Phan will bring his bold and vibrant artworks on board MSC World Asia, which will be displayed in select areas of the ship. Mixing traditional inking techniques with digital rendering, he brings ideas to life with expressive line work and bold colours. Each piece tells a story, inviting guests to immerse themselves in moments of reflection, legend, and cultural heritage. Highlights include:
- Mount Fuji Inspiration: Hoan Phan observed a swan building her nest with dry grass intertwined with a thick rope during a visit to Lake Kawaguchi. The unexpected contrast between natural and man-made materials inspired the artwork, capturing a moment of quiet observation and harmony between human influence and nature.
- Hồ Nguyệt Cô: Inspired by Vietnamese folklore and classical opera (Hát bội), Hoan Phan depicts a fox spirit who transforms into a human woman through devotion and perseverance, dreaming of finding true love.
- Hạ Long Bay: Hoan Phan’s artwork illustrates the legend of the Mother Dragon and her children turning pearls into islands to protect Vietnam from invaders. The piece celebrates resilience and the lasting imprint of mythology on the landscape of Hạ Long Bay.
- Southeast Asia: Hoan Phan highlights details from Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand, reflecting the region’s enduring charm and rich cultural tapestry, capturing both its history and contemporary spirit.
Artworks by Atelier Le Castel: Atelier Le Castel will create bespoke artworks for a wide range of onboard venues including La Dolce Vita bar, selected restaurants and cafés such as Bubbles, the theatre, and select areas of the MSC Yacht Club, along with custom artworks for the ship’s suites and cabins. MSC World Asia marks nearly three decades of collaboration between MSC Cruises and Atelier Le Castel.
Kaito Sushi Restaurant Artwork – The Kaito Sushi Restaurant on board will feature vibrant koi fish artwork by artist Raimondo Briata. MSC Cruises today released photos of the moment that the newly refurbished MSC Magnifica transited through the Panama Canal as part of her 2026 World Cruise.

NEW YEAR-ROUND ITINERARY FROM NEW LA ROMANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, HOMEPORT

Today at Fitur, the International Tourism Trade Fair taking place in Madrid, Spain, MSC Cruises spoke of their new year-round operation from La Romana, Dominican Republic starting November 2026.

In the presence of the Dominican Republic Minister of Tourism, David Collado, the cruise line committed its year-round operation from a brand-new homeport in La Romana, in the south of the Dominican Republic for the long-term.. This is the first time MSC Cruises has offered year-round sailings in the Southern Caribbean.

MSC Opera will operate a brand-new itinerary, operating weekly departures, and guests can opt to book a seven-night sailing or extend their cruise to a back-to-back 14-night ‘butterfly’ cruise.

DIRTY DANCING TO COME ABOARD MSC POESIA FOR UPCOMING SUMMER SEASON IN ALASKA

MSC Cruises is bringing Dirty Dancing: In Concert – the live-to-film concert created by Lionsgate and GEA Live – to MSC Poesia for her highly anticipated summer season in Alaska, starting 11 May 2026.

Building on MSC Cruises existing collaboration with Lionsgate, MSC Poesia will become the third ship in the cruise line’s fleet to feature the hit live-to-film concert, following its highly successful reception aboard MSC World America sailing from Miami in the U.S. and on MSC Virtuosa for her summer sailings from Southampton in the UK. The concert is also set to continue on MSC Virtuosa for her upcoming winter season in the Southern Caribbean.

The spectacular 90-minute live-to-film concert will bring Lionsgate’s beloved 80s film, Dirty Dancing, to life, featuring a talented live band alongside sensational singers and dancers, performing in sync with the beloved movie.

MSC MAGNIFICA LEAVES SHIPYARD IN MALTA FOR MEDITERRANEAN SAILINGS

MSC Cruises has completed a major refurbishment of MSC Magnifica at the Palumbo Malta Shipyard, marking the start of her winter sailings in the Mediterranean ahead of the 2026 MSC World Cruise.

Guests can now enjoy a range of brand-new, state-of-the-art facilities, including two new speciality dining venues — Butcher’s Cut and Kaito Sushi Bar — along with a redesigned MSC Aurea Spa and Technogym® Fitness Centre featuring a Gentleman’s Barber, new workout studios, and an expanded outdoor Aurea area.

The ship, which has been in service since 2010, has spent the past two months at dry dock at Palumbo Malta Shipyard in Malta undergoing one of the largest upgrades in MSC Cruises’ fleet in the past decade.

Guests will get to experience the new venues from now, and the full MSC Yacht Club experience complete with 24-hour butler and concierge service, will be available in Summer 2026 when MSC Magnifica sails her Northern Europe itineraries departing from Warnemunde, Germany.

MSC WORLD ATLANTIC, SETTING SAIL FROM PORT CANAVERAL IN NOVEMBER 2027

MSC Cruises today opened sales for MSC World Atlantic, set to debut from Port Canaveral, Florida (U.S.), in November 2027.

The ship will offer guests the chance to experience a seamless blend of cultures, flavours, and styles from both sides of the Atlantic brought together in one thrilling destination at sea.

As the fourth ship in the cruise line’s trailblazing World Class series, MSC World Atlantic is designed to blend MSC Cruises’ signature European style with American comfort and will offer alternating 7-night and 14-night Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings to some of the most iconic destinations – including Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, MSC Cruises’ private island in the Bahamas.

MSC SEASCAPE ARRIVES IN GALVESTON

Galveston, Texas – November 7, 2025 – MSC Seascape arrived at its new homeport in Galveston this morning ahead of MSC Cruises’ first-ever sailings from the Texas port. Starting Sunday, the ship will deliver Texas-sized fun on 7-night Galveston cruises to the Western Caribbean, with stops in Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; and Isla de Roatan, Honduras. Departing every Sunday, the ship will continue these sailings year-round from the port’s new state-of-the-art Cruise Terminal 16.
