SAN DIEGO ZOO
The San Diego Zoo covers 100 acres and is home to over 4,000 rare and endangered animals representing more than 800 species and subspecies as well as a stunning botanical collection with more than 700,000 exotic plants. You will board your coach at your pier and set out on a brief drive to 1,200-acre Balboa Park, the nation’s largest urban cultural park and home to the San Diego Zoo.
You can choose to ride the guided double-decker bus tour past major highlights, take the Skyfari aerial tram, or you can always stroll through the verdant grounds, observing the animals at your leisure. Learn about the animals that lived in this area in prehistoric times, then meet their living counterparts at The Harry and Grace Steele Elephant Odyssey. The new multi-species habitat features elephants, California condors, jaguars and more. At Wegeforth Bowl and Hunte Amphitheatre, you can watch animals such as sea lions and wolves in their natural habitats, or you can head to the children’s zoo to ensure that everyone gets in on the fun. You won’t want to miss the polar bears, the okapis, or the bonobos, all in realistic habitats.
At the end of your visit, meet your coach for your return to the ship.
