See bottlenose dolphins up-close during this approximately three-and-a-half-hour excursion, which takes place at the Dolphinaris venue in Cozumel. Begin with a quick check-in and briefing at the pier, followed by a short transfer to Dolphinaris. Once arrived, there’s around 15 minutes for getting settled and locker and towel rentals, before fitting a life vest and a presentation from staff, lasting around 20 minutes. Before your encounter, you’ll be given a short introduction to dolphin behaviour and a briefing about what the encounter involves.
Then it’s time to enter the water for your dolphin encounter, lasting about 40 minutes. It takes place on a submerged platform in a lagoon with bottlenose dolphins, known to be an extremely intelligent species. The dolphins will swim by you, and you can interact with them directly, as experienced staff give you more information about these marvellous creatures and their communication and anatomy.
Afterwards, there’s around 30 minutes to make use of the water activities at Dolphinaris, such as kayaking, paddleboarding and snorkelling in the venue’s “natural aquarium ” (water activities are included in the excursion cost but are weather dependent).
Finish your experience with one hour to enjoy an all-inclusive lunch and drinks at one of the venue’s on-site restaurants, plus browsing in the gift shop, with the option to purchase photos of your dolphin encounter. A short transfer then returns to the port.
Important Information:Guests will be required to wash their hands before and after the animal interaction. Guests less than 4 feet tall must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. We recommend wearing your swimwear and to bring a towel. Guests are recommended to bring swimwear and a change of clothing but must refrain from wearing either jewellery or sunscreen as these may damage the dolphins’sensitive skin.
Please ensure your sunscreen is fully biodegradable as normal sunscreen is prohibited from use due to the damage it causes to the reef. Camera and videos are not allowed in the dolphin area, but guests can take pictures from the restaurant and bar area. This tour is not recommended for wheelchair bound guests, or guests with back/neck injuries. Pregnant women are not permitted to participate to this tour for safety reasons.
The Dolphin Premium Encounter program, food, beverages, and round trip transportation are all available under the all-inclusive plan, while photos, souvenirs, towels and lockers have an extra cost. Minimum age to participate to the encounter is 5 years. Minimum age to consume alcohol is 21 years old. All participating guests will be required to sign a waiver which may only be available in English. Snorkeling in the aquarium, kayaking, or paddleboarding, are available on a first come, first served basis and are subject to availability depending on the weather conditions
