SAND BAY BEACH, COOK UP LUNCH, AND WATERFALLS
This full-day tour includes a visit to the Twin Falls and Sand Bay beach, where you will experience a traditional Dominican “cook up” meal. After an approximately 1-hour drive through the northeastern part of the island, you will arrive at Sand Bay. Reaching the beach requires a strenuous descent down a natural path between two cliffs.
The beach consists of both white and black volcanic sand. You will spend approximately 2 hours at the beach, during which a Dominican meal will be prepared over an open fire. On the return, you will stop at Twin Falls. After a 15-20-minute hike, you will reach the first waterfall. Guests who wish to continue may take an optional 5-minute hike to the second white sulfur waterfall. The return drive to the pier is approximately 45 minutes. Guests must be at least 12 years old to participate.
Please note: There is a steep and difficult descent to reach the beach. Guests must be at least 12 years old to participate. This tour forms part of an authentic experience. The type of meal that you will get to enjoy is called a “Dominican Cook-Up” and consists of a rich Dominican soup.
The soup’s ingredients are the following and will also be served with bread: dumplings, pumpkins, lentils, carrots, cabbage, and spices. To keep the traditional aspect of the local culture authentic, this tour does not include a 3-course meal. This tour involves walking on uneven terrain.
To reach the first waterfall at Twin Falls, guests will have to walk approximately 60 steps. If guests choose the option to visit the second waterfall at Twin Falls, they must hike for approximately 5 minutes up a steep hill
